hello world!

One of the most requested remakes in the last 20 years has finally been announced during the PlayStation showcase this week, and it’s none other than Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The trailer begins with a line of ants marching toward a deceased poison dart frog that suddenly gets picked up by a parrot that seems to be the exact type of bird featured during The End’s iconic boss battle. As it flies into the sky, you can see what looks like helicopters carrying away the Shagohod (Metal gear), referencing the same scene that happens in the game. In the distance, gunshots can be heard as the parrot weaves its way through a busted electrical fence that anyone who has played Snake Eater would immediately recognize. On a fallen tree branch, the parrot lands in the middle of the water and is immediately ambushed by a large snake, which is then, in turn, attacked by a crocodile. Leaving the action, the camera moves slowly across the water as a shadow quietly reveals itself as none other than the Legendary Naked Snake!

Time to break the bandana back out!

There are no words to describe the sheer excitement I felt when I heard the “Snake Eater” theme play as the game’s title appeared on the screen. It has been a long time coming, and now we finally get our wish to see the Metal Gear series once again. Not only are we getting a remake of Snake Eater, but Konami is also releasing the original Metal Gear Solid 1-3 for current consoles dubbed the “Master Collection Volume 1“. I’m actually interested to know if Konami plans to release a volume 2 that includes Metal Gear Solid 4, which has been locked on the PS3 for years because it’s the only way to experience the end of Solid Snake’s stunning story.

Although no word has been given on when the remake will arrive, the Master Collection is scheduled to be released in the fall of this year. According to a press release from Konami, the collection and remake will not be a PlayStation exclusive and will be available for Xbox and PC as well. I only ask that they keep the excruciating long ladder-climbing sequence from the original while the “Snake Eater” theme plays. Apart from that, I am eagerly anticipating experiencing this game once again.

What a thrill…

Who else is looking forward to Snake’s return? Watch the trailer for yourself down below. Also drop a comment on what you would like to see in the remake. You can keep up on all the latest Metal Gear Solid and video game news here at CouchSoup.com.
