Okay, so we have the official announcement of Tales of the Shire. And it’s developed by Weta Workshop? THE people who know The Lord of the Rings like no other? AND…it’s a cozy game? What? Gimmee…
Seriously, after watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy and seeing the beautiful serenity of The Shire, who wouldn’t want to live as a Hobbit and eat potatoes all day? It’s a cozy life sim that doesn’t have a single Nazgul or orc to ruin your day. No adventures that just don’t look like a very good time.
This looks like my kind of place!
You get to live out your cozy fantasy of living in the comfort of a hobbit hole and making it your own. Make friends and build relationships, and I’m sure you could create a garden to make Samwise Gamgee officially drop those eves.
In Lord of the Rings, Bywater is a village in the Shire near Bilbo’s Hobbiton BUT a key aspect of this game is that Bywater has not yet achieved village status. You help get it there! Complete daily activities and gain official village status in Bywater.
Live as any respectable hobbit would. Stock up your pantry by fishing and gardening and then making culinary masterpieces at breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, or even afternoon tea. You get the idea.
This game is set to release on PC and all consoles at the end of 2024. Let’s hope (for my sake) that it releases earlier than that.
Are you as excited as I am for this release? Let us know in the comments!

Thanks for being part of our quest – now, back to our regularly scheduled geekery!
Brandy grew up in a small suburb outside Houston, Texas, in a time when MTV still had music videos and before video game consoles in homes were a thing. She may be the only one in her town that owned a ColecoVision instead of an Atari. She also has a knack for finding the humor in everything even in situations where maybe she shouldn’t.
Gears of War has made the console jump to PlayStation with Gears of War: Reloaded, and we are absolutely shocked. Join Tom as he tells you why he is both excited and terrified for this monumental release.
Let’s take a look at Telltale Games’ forgotten gem: Jurassic Park: The Game. Lily K thinks there’s no better time than now since Telltale is finally back with a new game and Jurassic Park is celebrating its 30th anniversary!
The original PlayStation console had a huge library of games during its run. Emmanuel shares the original PlayStation games that meant the most to him, and some of our other Couch Soup contributors share theirs, too.
I am really excited to play this game! It cannot be released fast enough!
RIGHT????!!!! It would be so great if it had multiplayer but I saw nothing about that
This looks so CAYUUTE!!
