Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive announced an all-new AAA RPG game set in the Universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender, now in development.
Yesterday, Oct 3rd, 2024, it was announced on IGN that a new Avatar game is currently in development at Saber Interactive in partnership with Paramount Game Studios.
This is exciting news for Avatar fans, as the fanbase has been horribly underserved regarding video games. We did get Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance back in September of 2023, but as our review said, that game was a disservice to fans of the beloved franchise.
The upcoming game is said to be a new experience set thousands of years before the series, and players will be taking on the role of a new Avatar. They will “master all four elements, engage in dynamic combat alongside companions, and experience the challenges and decisions that come with being the keeper of balance in the world.”
In the press release, Josh Austin, Head of IP development and Licensing at Saber Interactive, says, “At Saber, we are all truly fans of the IP we work with. Our team members are some of the most devoted, passionate creatives out there and it’s an honor to join forces with Avatar Studios and Paramount Games to further expand the Avatar Legends universe in video games.”
Saber Interactive recently shipped Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, which has an 82 on Metacritic and is being highly praised by fans. Hopefully, this is a sign that fans can expect a good Avatar game that merits the now mostly adult and mature fan base instead of crappy shovelware games for kids.
