This Shrinking Season 3 Episode 2 review dives headfirst into the comedy, chaos, and emotional messiness of Apple TV+’s hit series. With the third season underway, hallucinations, happiness missions, and questionable life choices dominate the screen. As a result, therapy-adjacent disasters pile up faster than anyone could anticipate. Additionally, the episode balances humor with surprisingly deep emotional moments.
Shrinking Season 3 Episode 2 wastes no time raising the stakes. While Paul grapples with hallucinations, he finds himself sidelined from the practice. Meanwhile, Jimmy and Alice decide that the solution to everything is taking Louis out on a “Happiness Mission.” Naturally, this plan goes exactly as well as expected. In fact, it highlights just how chaotic these characters’ lives have become.
Paul’s storyline becomes darker as Liz tightens her grip on his daily life to keep his Parkinson’s under control. Is it love, control, or both? It’s deeply uncomfortable to watch. Meanwhile, Jimmy continues fumbling through life as both a therapist and father, while Alice navigates her own complicated emotions with far more clarity than most adults around her. Additionally, these intersecting storylines create tension while still delivering comedic moments.
Then there’s Louis. Will he ever quit that awful coffee shop? Will the manatees finally get it together? And seriously — will Matthew just go away already? These questions linger throughout the episode, and they add both humor and frustration.
