hello world!

The Hunt for Red October. It’s spooky season, and there are games for everyone coming this month to kick off the holiday season. The return of everyone’s favorite bounty hunter (no, not Boba) Samus Aran, a new version of one of gaming’s most beloved zombie shooters, and plenty more to be excited about.

October’s Highlights

Far Cry 6 – Oct 7th (PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, Stadia, Luna)

The very popular Far Cry franchise returns, and this time we are going to the Caribbean. Starring Giancarlo Esposito as President Anton Castillo. You will play as revolutionary Dani Rojas, wait, the guy from Ted Lasso? Oh no? Ok! Dani can be male or female to suit the player’s choice as you take on the regime and the grips of its violent leader. Amass a powerful array of weaponry and vehicles in the fight to liberate the island nation of Yara. Fight for freedom on your platform of choice on Oct 7th.

Back 4 Blood – Oct 8th (PS4, PS5, Xbox, Gamepass, PC)

Back 4 Blood is the latest game from developer Turtle Rock Studios and a spiritual successor to the ever-popular Left 4 Dead video games. Taking the Left 4 Dead formula to new extremes, players will choose from a cast of characters known as Cleaners with different skills to aid one another in the fight against the Ridden. Takedown the cannon fodder as well as an array of special variants hell-bent on killing you and your team. Join three friends for 4 player co-op action or take on a new 4v4 PvP mode of Cleaners vs Ridden. Take on the hoards in Left … I mean Back 4 Blood on Oct 12th, and play it day one with Gamepass.

Metroid Dread – Oct 8th (Switch)

Metroid 5 or Dread is the first new Metroid game in the series in almost 20 years, not including remakes and spinoffs. Picking up after the events of Metroid Fusion, Samus Aran, a highly-skilled bounty hunter, heads to Planet ZDR after the Galactic Federation receives a cryptic transmission that indicates that parasite X may be present. There, Samas meets a new and terrifying foe, extremely deadly robots known as E.M.M.I’s that are on the hunt for Samus and will stop at nothing in their pursuit. Metroid fans will finally be able to experience the conclusion to the story started in the original NES Metroid in this 2-D side-scrolling shooter adventure coming on Oct 8th.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy – Oct 26th (PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, *Switch)

The third Guardians of the Galaxy movie isn’t set to release for almost another two years, but Eidos is hoping to fill the galaxy-sized void with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy – the game. This game takes inspiration from both the comics and movies and will feature an original story starring our favorite group of misfits trying to save the universe. This will also be a single-player narrative-driven experience where you take on the role of Star Lord and lead the rest of the guardians. Featuring in-depth combat, zipping around as Peter Quill, and setting up commands and team attacks with Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket. Save the galaxy to a rocking 80’s soundtrack on Oct 26th.

*Switch – Will be available on Switch via cloud streaming.

Age of Empires – Oct 28th (PC, Gamepass for PC)

One of the best real time strategy games returns for the first time in 13 years. Age of Empires 4 is a new RTS for a modern generation with advanced tutorials to help new players and challenging enough for veterans to enjoy. This new Age will feature 4K visuals, 4 distinct campaigns featuring 8 different civilizations, and historical figures like Joan of Arc and Genghis Khan.
