Las Vegas has hosted another fabulous year of tech advancements under the banner of the Consumer Electronics Show, or CES. Last year, we covered some of our favorite cool pieces of tech, and this year, one specific presentation blew us away. On day one, LEGO announced the upcoming release of its LEGO SMART Play bricks. These SMART Play bricks use a small sensor in the key SMART brick and connect with surrounding bricks to bring the play to life with activated sounds and lights.
The first half of the presentation had children playing with the SMART Brick live, bringing LEGO car builds to life with horns and lights. After the initial round of showing how the SMART Brick works, the LEGO team announced that the inaugural SMART Brick sets will be partnered with longstanding LEGO licensees, Star Wars. This was announced with the help of some familiar (and fuzzy) faces from a galaxy far, far away.
LEGO was extremely kind to their partners at Star Wars and shared the stage with members of their creative team (and eventually, even more Star Wars characters). They explained that the SMART Brick technology would launch with three sets in March, all complete with SMART Brick integration.
Are you excited to play with the LEGO SMART Bricks? What IP do you want to see integrated with SMART Bricks? I want a Spider-Man minifigure that goes THWIP more than I can express. Tell us your thoughts in the comments!

Andrea is a silly little goose who obsesses over lore and storytelling. She is the co-host of The Other Castle podcast and covers the plot, lore, and more behind video games. The show covers the ideation, production, and storylines of fan-favorite game titles. With the power of a single mojito, she can do the entire choreographed dance from Alan Wake 2.
I freaking loved Good Boy to be fair. Indy the dog winning best Best Performance in a Horror or Thriller Feature at The Astra Awards is well deserved. And you'd know that if you watched the film. Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Games Done Quick are having one of their events raising money for Prevent Cancer Foundation. They've already gone past $1million, and they're serving up some mindblowing speedruns. Take a look at how this runner breaks Zelda: Twilight Princess in their All Dungeons run.
What a fun tease for the upcoming year of television at Netflix. From Bridgerton to One Piece to Peaky Blinders and so much more, it's safe to say there is plenty I am excited to binge... er... watch this year in one or more sittings. 😉 What are you looking forward to?
There's a rumor (or wild unhinged speculation) that the finale of Stranger Things wasn't ACTUALLY the finale, and it's a fake ending where everyone is just stuck inside Vecna's mind still. Do you believe that X is a lie? Or that Karen Wheeler's scars are actually gone? Some people think S5, Episode 9 is on […]
