Celebrity Announcements and Speedrunning Events Rock the Aussie Gaming Scene

hello world!

It’s been an exciting week for the Australian gaming scene. Not only has PAX Aus announced its first wave of celebrity guests who will be attending the convention this year, but the Australian Speedrun Marathon has also returned, raising money for Game On Cancer! It’s a lot of excitement, and one can easily be overwhelmed with all the info. Luckily, we’ve got all the information you need right here to get you all caught up on the Aussie gaming scene.

Famous Faces Coming To PAX Aus 2025

The first wave of guests announced for PAX Aus 2025. Six people have their faces in the image. Their names are to the left of their image, with a brief bio underneath each name. There is a yellow, black, and white colour scheme.

Starting off with the big names coming to PAX Aus 2025. Like every year, a wide range of voice actors, developers, and content creators make the trek down under to experience the largest gaming event in the Southern Hemisphere, and this year is no different. Leading the charge of this first wave of announcements is Amelia Tyler, who you’ve probably heard as the narrator for Baldur’s Gate 3. But she isn’t just a sultry narrator; she’s had roles in Divinity: Original Sin 2, Sea of Thieves, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and will even be appearing in the upcoming Hades 2. She’s everywhere, including PAX Aus 2025. Fellow voice actor Luke Dale will also be in attendance. He’s best known for his role as Lord Hans Capon from Kingdom Come: Deliverance I & II. This up-and-comer in the voice acting and motion capture space will be ready for any and all questions at his meet-and-greets over PAX weekend.

It's not just voice actors coming to PAX Aus; content creators of every variety will be there. For fans of Dimension 20, Ify Nwadiwe will be at the convention to talk all things comedy, including his time writing for shows like Twisted Metal and upcoming video games like Borderlands 4. John Robertson will once again be returning to PAX, and he’s bringing his comedy gameshow, The Dark Room, back to PAX Aus once again. Diana Fay is a TTRPG content creator from Oregon who rose to fame over the pandemic. She has become a passionate advocate for inclusivity in the TTRPG space and is bringing that same energy to PAX Aus. And finally, the creator of Call of Cthulhu himself, Mike Mason, will be in attendance, appearing as part of Chaosium’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

Speedrunning To Beat Cancer

The other major bit of news in the Aussie gaming space is the return of the Australian Speedrun Marathon for another year. This event is part of Game on Cancer, an initiative that raises money through video games to support cancer research. This year, the event will feature many of speedrunners' favourite games, such as Pokémon Heart Gold, Mario Kart 64, Donkey Kong Country, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

Additionally, AORUS has joined the event as a major partner, providing their support and streaming equipment to ensure the event runs smoother than ever. The event will once again emanate from the Adelaide Rockford, with tickets available online at the official website or at the door. All profits will be donated to Game on Cancer. The marathon started on the 15th of July and will conclude on the 20th of July, so you still have time to tune in to some amazing speedruns and support a great cause.

James Gunn's DCU is in full swing, as less than a year after his reboot of Superman, we get Supergirl, who's a bit lost in her place in the world and therefore drinks and is a bit reckless. But don't worry, her dog Krypto is here to pee on a Superman-headlined newspaper for comedy. Seriously, […]

4 Perks Of Being A Slow Artist

In a world where everything is about keeping up with the trends and being on time, it can be frustrating to be an artist. But there are perks of being a slow artist. Let me share them with you.

Are Cons Coming Back This Year?

If you were lucky in 2020, then at the beginning of the year you were able to catch a few spring Comic Cons before the pandemic hit the world. If not… well… you lived through a full year without them. The real question is not if we can survive another year without them but if they can survive another year?
