If you haven’t checked it out yet, House of the Dragon is a prequel to the award-winning and record-breaking show Game of Thrones, based on the phenomenal A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin. In it, viewers track the beginning of the downfall of House Targaryen as the house wages a bloody and brutal civil war known to Westerosi history as the Dance of the Dragons. The winning family line eventually traces to our beloved Daenerys Targaryen, who, along with Jon Snow (AKA Aegon Targaryen), is one of the last surviving members of their house in the original show.
That said, we’re gearing up for some major dragon war in season two of House of the Dragon. Events like Blood and Cheese, Rook’s Rest, and the Battle of the Gullet may be on the horizon. Bear in mind none of these events, nor the release date, have been officially confirmed by HBO, so we’re only guessing. But regardless, this summer, Vermithor is coming, and they better not screw up my dragon baby. Hopefully, with less overall work needed due to the lack of dragons, Dunk and Egg may bring us some emotional reprieve between HOTD's sure-to-be-heartbreaking season two finale and the premiere of season three.
Which are you most excited to see, House of the Dragon season two or Dunk and Egg on screen? Dragons hold sway for me, but The Hedge Knight's banter might bring some much-needed laughter in this season's aftermath.
