House of the Dragon Season 2 Release Date Announced?

hello world!

We might have a date for House of the Dragon season two! Matt Smith, who plays the rogue prince Daemon Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel, recently let slip that dragons might be coming in the early summer of 2024. Depicting the epic Dance of the Dragons, the first season premiered in August of 2022 to incredible acclaim. Perhaps we’ll see another mid-summer release in 2024?

If you haven’t checked it out yet, House of the Dragon is a prequel to the award-winning and record-breaking show Game of Thrones, based on the phenomenal A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin. In it, viewers track the beginning of the downfall of House Targaryen as the house wages a bloody and brutal civil war known to Westerosi history as the Dance of the Dragons. The winning family line eventually traces to our beloved Daenerys Targaryen, who, along with Jon Snow (AKA Aegon Targaryen), is one of the last surviving members of their house in the original show.

In other news, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is reportedly preparing to film some time in 2024. This Westerosi tale follows Ser Duncan the Tall (rumored to be an ancestor of Brienne of Tarth) and Aegon V Targaryen–also known as Dunk and Egg–on their adventures in the years after the Blackfyre Rebellion. Timeline-wise, that's between the events of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. Following HBO's announcement of the series, a casting call was released for characters who can only be the two main characters. Combine this with the filming news, and things appear to be moving along well. The novella trilogy is adored by fans of A Song of Ice and Fire, and I'm looking forward to seeing these two polar opposites take to the screen.

That said, we’re gearing up for some major dragon war in season two of House of the Dragon. Events like Blood and Cheese, Rook’s Rest, and the Battle of the Gullet may be on the horizon. Bear in mind none of these events, nor the release date, have been officially confirmed by HBO, so we’re only guessing. But regardless, this summer, Vermithor is coming, and they better not screw up my dragon baby. Hopefully, with less overall work needed due to the lack of dragons, Dunk and Egg may bring us some emotional reprieve between HOTD's sure-to-be-heartbreaking season two finale and the premiere of season three.

Which are you most excited to see, House of the Dragon season two or Dunk and Egg on screen? Dragons hold sway for me, but The Hedge Knight's banter might bring some much-needed laughter in this season's aftermath.

To quote Michael Corleone in The Godfather Part III, "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" This cast announcement has me FLOORED. Soooo MANY reunions. Is the Coven sequel we all wanted?! Still trying to pretend Season 8: Apocalypse never happened... Ariana Grande, Angela Basset, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and […]

The war we've all been waiting for! Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin is one step closer to suing ChatGPT company OpenAI for copyright infringement. Let's hope this culminates in a more universally loved ending than the HBO show 🙂

While we wait for Guillermo Del Toro's latest hit adaptation, Frankenstein, another Frankenstein film is on the horizon... Bride! directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Anyone else confused as to why we aren't seeing much marketing for this movie? With a stacked cast and an artsy Bonnie & Clyde-like plot, I feel like we aren't talking enough […]
