hello world!

The Spring anime season is in full swing, and it’s only getting more exciting thanks to Crunchyroll. They’ve already got an insane lineup of shows (which you can read our recommendations here), but some new seasons of fan favourites have been officially confirmed to be returning to the streaming service this season. These range from shows getting their 7th season to those getting their long-awaited return. Let’s dive into these exciting additions to get you even more keen than you already are!

My Hero Academia is a juggernaut of a series. Since the 1st season first aired back in 2016, the series has been one of the constants of the anime world. And now, everything appears to be coming to a head in the upcoming Season 7. After the Paranormal Liberation War and the subsequent chaos that followed. Deku and his classmates are now getting ready to combat an even bigger threat. Everything appears to be leading up to this, and I’m so excited to see how everything pans out. But what if it’s been a hot minute since you watched all 138 episodes of this series? Have no fear because a four-episode special event called My Hero Academia: Memories is currently airing right now on Crunchyroll. These four episodes will recap the entire series until the end of Season 6, so you can be up to date and ready to go when Season 7 begins on the 4th of May.

It’s Time to Train with Demon Slayer

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of Demon Slayer. The series has become a cultural phenomenon thanks to its amazing story and exquisite animation. So it’s no surprise that the series would return for its next arc, The Hashira Training Arc. We already got a sneak preview of this upcoming season with To The Hashira Training theatrical event (which you can read our review of here), and if the rest of the season is as amazing as the first episode, we’re in for a treat. After taking down two Upper-Rank Demons at the end of last season, Tanjiro and the rest of the demon slayer corps are getting some hardcore training from the Hashira to prepare them for the upcoming battle with the king of the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji. You’ll be able to see what is in store for Tanjiro and co when Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc heads to Crunchyroll on the 12th of May.

Black Butler is Taking You to School

If you were a part of the anime community during the late 2000s, you most likely at least heard of Black Butler. The fan-favourite anime revolving around a young boy and his demon butler saw three seasons and a film before going radio silent for almost a decade. Now, the series is returning with the Public School Arc! To be completely honest, I didn’t watch the series when it first aired (I was but a wee lad), but I did know it existed. Over the years, I saw it come up in various places and was always curious about it. If you’re like me and have been interested in giving this series a watch, now is the best time. Not only because of the new season but the first three seasons and the film are all coming to Crunchyroll! Now you can catch up on this beloved series and then tune in every Saturday at 9 am PT for new episodes of Black Butler!

I didn’t think it was possible, but the Spring 2024 Anime season has gotten even better. Adding these sequel announcements to an already stacked lineup, what more could you want? That’s not even mentioning some of the other new shows, such as The New Gate, Dragon Raja – The Blazing Dawn, and so much more. Keep it locked to Couch Soup for even more anime content to feed your nerd soul.

What are you watching this anime season? Will you be watching these new seasons? Have you found a hidden gem? Let us know in the comments where we can talk all things anime.

Thanks for bringing the awesome as always, Thomas!

I am MORE than ready for more MHA, and excited to get back to Demon Slayer, too. Now that Rurouni Kenshin is on its break, I’m currently super into Solo Leveling (AMAZING!) and my first watch through Black Clover (SO FUN!), and that has sufficiently sustained me while I wait for MHA and Demon Slayer. Also reading Kagurabachi manga and look forward to an anime debut of that soon!

Sidenote: Black Clover manga is going to some wonderful places past the anime story, and that’s a series I’d love to see “finished.”

Another sidenote: JJK was so hot in 2023, but I’ve been following where the manga has gone, and I am not sure I’m going to be as into it going forward. Honestly, if MAPPA redirects that energy into Kagurabachi, I’ll be satisfied. 🙂
