hello world!

The 2024 Spring Anime Season is upon us, and Crunchyroll keeps giving us more to be excited about. They recently announced their upcoming slate of series coming to the platform (and you can check out our recommendations here), and they haven’t stopped there. We recently got two massive news drops that have sent my hype levels through the roof. With another addition to the lineup and the announcement of a same-day dub for one of the most anticipated series this season, I can barely contain my excitement. Enough of this preamble; let’s dive into these announcements!

Kaiju No. 8 Will be Aired Simultaneously with Same Day Dubs!

Kaiju No. 8 is one of my most anticipated series this upcoming anime season. I’ve been a fan of the series since I picked up the manga and have been eagerly awaiting the anime. And as if I couldn’t be any more excited, Crunchyroll has announced that they will be streaming each episode worldwide at the same time it airs in Japan. This is a first for Crunchyroll, which typically simulcasts anime (airing a show 24 hours after it first aired in Japan). The live broadcast announcement wasn’t the only exciting part of this announcement because they also announced that this series will be receiving same-day dubs! This means no two-week gap between the sub and dub versions, and we can all enjoy this amazing series at the same time. They also announced the dub cast for some characters: Nazeeh Tarsha as Kafka Hibino, Katelyn Barr as Mina Ashiro, and Adam McArthur as Reno Ichikawa. I’m even more excited for Kaiju No. 8 now, and April 13th can’t come soon enough.

Slime Returns to Crunchyroll with Season 3

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (which I’ve written a few articles on). I’ve been eagerly awaiting the series’ return since I finished Season 2. We have gotten the Scarlet Bond film (which I reviewed here) and the Visions of Coleus OVA (which I talked about here), but it just wasn’t the same as Season 3. But we’ll only have to wait a few more days because it has been announced that the slime-centric series will be streaming on Crunchyroll starting March 30th! Season 3 will pick up after Season 2 with Rimuru being recognised as a Demon Lord and defeating Clayman. In celebration of this, alongside the expansion of Rimuru’s domain, a festival will be held. But with the Holy Empire of Lubelius setting its sights on Tempest, Rimuru must overcome new challenges to keep his people safe. 8bit returns once again to animate Season 3 alongside the cast returning as well. Multiple dubs were also confirmed to be coming later as well. I’m excited to return to the world of Slime and to see how the story progresses.

The 2024 Spring Anime Season just keeps getting better and better. The Kaiju No. 8 release news makes me even more excited for the series than ever. Add in the return of Slime, and this Crunchyroll lineup is shaping up to be one of their best yet. For more info on both these announcements, you can check out the full press releases here and here. Keep it locked to Couch Soup for more anime goodness to feed your hungry nerd soul.

Are you excited for these announcements? What are you looking forward to this season? What shows will you be watching? Let us know in the comments where we can talk about all things anime.
