It’s the time of year when the leaves start to change colour, people start carving pumpkins, and Crunchyroll announces its slate for the 2025 Fall anime season. This upcoming anime season is filled with returning favourites and exciting premieres that will keep you entertained over this autumn. If you’re struggling to figure out which anime to start with, there’s no need to worry, because we’ve gone through and found a handful of series perfect to ease yourself into an autumn of anime.

My Hero Academia has been a staple of anime since it burst onto the scene in 2016. Since then, the series has gone on to have seven seasons, four films, and plenty of OVAs. But all good things come to an end, and My Hero Academia will be wrapping up soon with its final season, this time animated by BONES FILM (the film department at BONES, the studio that has animated My Hero from the start).
After the end of Season 7, the heroes finally confronted Shigaraki and All For One head-on, and the climactic battles began. Deku vs Shigaraki and All For One vs All Might, and the rest of Hero Society doing what they can to help curb the tide of villainy; this is going to be one hell of a finale. My Hero Academia was one of the first series that got me into anime, so it’ll be bittersweet to see it come to an end when the final season starts on the 4th of October.

Sometimes, you just want to watch a wholesome family anime that’s filled with people going about their daily lives. It’s an oddly relaxing type of show to watch, and I’ve seen my fair share of them. However, what if the parents of the family were actually scientists, and their “daughter” was a robot they created that can destroy tanks? Well, that question will be answered in Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family. This new series from Studio Flad revolves around the underappreciated scientists, Enji and Suzume, who create an AI robot named Alma. The only problem is, Alma now sees the scientists as her mum and dad, and those two are not prepared for their new roles. Combine the stress of a robot child with a budding romance, and you have a recipe for a chaotic, yet wholesome time when Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family starts on the 5th of October.

SPY x FAMILY feels like a Saturday morning cartoon in a good way. While there is an overarching story about secret agent Twilight using the alias of Loid Forger to save the world, the individual episodes have a chill vibe that you don’t find in many anime these days. Taking snippets of the Forgers' (the fake family Twilight put together) daily lives as the three of them, Loid, Yor, and Anya, juggle hiding secrets from one another while genuinely starting to see each other as family, is heartwarming.
Now they're back in SPY x FAMILY Season 3, once again being animated by WIT STUDIO and Cloverworks. No one knows what kind of shenanigans the Forgers will get into, but we won’t have to wait long to find out when the new season starts on the 4th of October.

As gamers, we can all relate to being socially reclusive when it comes to our favourite pastime. The exact same can be said for Samara Young, a game dev based in LA, and the leading lady in Let’s Play, animated by OLM. Samara has just released her first game, Ruminate, something she’s dedicated almost her entire life to. So, when a popular streamer has a less-than-positive review, things go downhill fast. Even worse is that this streamer has just become her new neighbour?!
What follows is a story filled with comedy, romance, memes, social anxiety, and most importantly, gaming. You’ll be able to follow along with Samara’s journey of gaming and love when Let’s Play begins on the 1st of October.

To Your Eternity is a unique series, and one that has carved out its own niche in the anime space. It follows an immortal being named Fushi who changes their form freely in order to learn what it means to be truly human over the course of history. It’s an interesting premise, and seeing Fushi begin as an emotionless being and then start to realise the joys of living is something few anime could hope to replicate, which is why I’m very excited that To Your Eternity is returning for a third season to continue Fushi’s journey through history.
Once again animated by Drive and STUDIO MASSKET, season 3 takes the series into the modern era and will force Fushi to learn the true goal of his creator and make the ultimate decision. It’ll be interesting to see which direction the story takes next when To Your Eternity Season 3 begins on the 4th of October.
This is just a sample of the new anime coming to Crunchyroll this Fall anime season. You can check out the full list here, and make sure to come back to Couch Soup for all of your anime needs.

In the age of live-action remakes, Disney is at it again with a remake of the beloved sensation, Moana (2016)... A mere 10 years after the initial release, mind you. While the footage is heavy on the CGI, it effectively captures the beauty of the original animations and features beloved characters like Hei Hei. But it begs the question: Did we really need a reimagining of this film so soon? Moana sails into theaters July 10th, 2026.
