Monthly Update: November 2020 Game Releases

Here are the games and consoles releasing this month so hang onto your butts, it’s gonna get nuts. 

Let’s start with the new generation of gaming machines from Microsoft and Sony.

Xbox Series X|S – November 10th 2020

The newest offering from Microsoft is their most powerful xbox ever, the Series X offers 12 teraflops of processing power, 3D surround sound, 120FPS frame rate, and new features. The Series has the new Velocity Architecture that allows for much faster load times as well as Quick Resume, which allows for multiple games to be suspended and switched between on the fly. The Series will be backwards compatible with all existing backwards compatible Xbox games and some will be enhanced and optimized for the Series. The Series X is $499 and the Series S, a discless version with slightly reduced specs will be $299, making the Series S the most affordable next gen console this holiday. Both Series X and S will be available on November 10th.

Sony PlayStation 5 and Digital – November 12th 2020

Sony’s fifth installment of the PlayStation will have a lightning-fast SSD, Haptic feedback, 3D audio, and adaptive triggers. The new processor will allow for 120 fps at 120 Hertz. Games will be displayed in 4K and 8K with HDR (on supported TVs). The PS5 will be backward compatible with PS4 games with improved visuals for select games as well as PS VR integration. The PlayStation 5 is $499 and will also be available in a discless digital edition for $399 on November 12th.

The Games

With the new consoles comes a slew of new games. Many of the Xbox Series games will be the upgraded versions of existing Xbox One games that have been optimized for the Series.

Dirt 5 – November 6th (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Codemasters 5th installment of the Dirt Franchise that started in 2007 will be released for current and Next-Gen Consoles and optimized for the increase in power. The new career mode features the voice talents of Troy Baker and Nolan North, a four-player split-screen, and a new mode for player-created content in the Playgrounds.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – November 10th (PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series) (November 12th PS5) 

The latest iteration of the popular Assassins Creed series sees players assuming the role of a Viking warrior as they venture out to explore an open world ninth-century England. Command armies as you raid and battle Saxon Fortresses and grow and expand your own Viking settlement. Integrating strong RPG elements, you can develop your Viking warriors around your play style. 

 

Destiny 2: Beyond Light – November 10th (PS4, Xbox, PC)

Destiny 2 continues to evolve with the Beyond Light expansion which introduces a new planet, new power called Stasis, and new weapons and gear. The story has players exploring the planet of Europa, where a Fallen leader has taken refuge to rebuild their forces. You will need to adapt to new environments and harness the darkness to fight new foes.

Gears Tactics – November 10th (Xbox Series X|S) 

Gears Tactics takes the series in a new direction providing visceral turn-based strategy in the vein of Xcom. The story follows new character Gabe Diaz as he recruits troops in a brutal and intense campaign as you experience the events 12 years before the first Gears of War. Lead your troops to take on the rising horde of Locust in this brutal and fast-past strategy game.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon – November 10 (PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC ) (November 12th PS5)

Yakuza Like a Dragon is a spin off game in the long running Yakuza series. In this over the top beat ’em up RPG, players assume the role of Ichiban Kasuga 18 years after going to jail for a crime he did not commit. This story of revenge has players pursuing the man that was once Ichi’s idol, now his betrayer, recruiting other Yakuza outcasts to help in the fight.

Demon’s Souls – November 12th (PS5) 

Demon’s Souls is a remake of the PlayStation 3 classic built from the ground up by Bluepoint Games. Utilizing the full power of the PlayStation 5, Demon’s Souls brings gamers back to the brutal action of the original action RPG with beautiful visuals and modernized controls. Prepare to die in 4K.

Godfall – November 12th (PS5, Epic Game Store)

Godfall is a Looter-Slasher RPG coming to the PS5 and PC that allows three players to group up and take on hordes of enemies for glory and loot. Players assume the role of Valorian knights, who are masters of combat and equipped with armor called Valorplates to save Asperion.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales – November 12th (PS4, PS5)

In this continuation of Spider-Man PS4, you will become Miles Morales after he gains his unique spider powers and takes on the mantle of Spider-Man. Bridging the gap of the console generation, Spider-Man MM will be released on PS4 and PS5, with the PS5 version having greater visual fidelity and load times thanks to the PS5’s SSD.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – November 13th (Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS 4, PS5, PC)

Black Ops returns, this time set during the cold war and the events around the Cuban Missile Crisis. Multiplayer returns to boots on the ground style featuring vehicles and more advanced maps for chaos. Zombies are also returning with all new features and a new original story for Zombies.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate – November 17th (PS5, Xbox Series)

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is the definitive MK experience which includes the original base game, Aftermath Expansion, and Kombat Packs 1 and 2. Experience everything MK 11 has to offer in one package as well as free upgrades to the next-gen versions of the game.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – November 20th (Switch)

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a spin-off from Breath of the Wild that tells the story of the events 100 years prior to the original game. Hyrule Warriors is a hack and slash adventure that has players assuming the roles of various heroes of the Calamity and is a prequel that was co-developed by Nintendo.
