Monthly Update: January 2021 Game Releases

It’s the start of a new year and a year after 2020’s worldwide pandemic, but that has made for some amazing video games. Here’s what 2021 has to offer up first. Kicking the year off is the return of one of the best beat-em ups of all time and the first Xbox Series game. It is a light month but that is January.

 

January’s highlights

 

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game Complete Edition – January 14th (PC, PS4, Xbox, Switch)

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World the Game originally released on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2010. Now it’s back 10 years later for a return to one of the best classic beat-em up games ever made. Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley and the film, this game has players taking on the roles of their favorite characters as they beetle Ramona’s 7 evil ex-boyfriends. The game features some of the best chiptune music by Anamanaguchi and the complete edition will include all previously released DLC

 

Hitman 3 – January 20 (PS5, PS4, Xbox, PC, Stadia)

Hitman 3 sees the return of Agent 47 in the World of Assassination Trilogy, taking on the most important contracts of his career. All the locations from Hitman 1 & 2 can be imported and played in Hitman 3 as well as progression from Hitman 2will be carried over. Players can complete hits in whatever way they can imagine in this globetrotting adventure, which can now be played in VR!

 

Redout: Space Assault – January 22nd (PS4, Xbox, Switch, PC)

Redout: Space Assault is an arcade space battle game that pays tribute to classics of the genre like Star Fox and Panzer Dragoon. The Redout series is known for fast paced racers is now taking to space for some fast paced, adrenaline fueled space combat. Pilot various crafts loaded with advanced weaponry and blast your way through the intense single player campaign.

 

The Medium – January 28th (Xbox Series, PC)

The Medium is the latest psychological horror game from the team that made Layers of Fear and the Blair Witch and features a soundtrack composed by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka. You play as a psychic exploring the physical and spirit realm to solve puzzles and surviving encounters with a terrifying monster. The was developed for Xbox Series X and looks to take full advantage of the hardware this January.

Gods Will Fall – January 29th (PS4, Xbox, Switch, PC, Stadia)

Gods Will Fall is an upcoming action RPG where players will lead their Celtic clansmen to glory against various gods. Each warrior is equipped with different weapons, making each run unique.
