hello world!

Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, a new action RPG from Team Ninja, was shown at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase last June. Now, Koei Tecmo released a playable demo during their Tokyo Game Show presentation, and you can play it now.

Devine Beast Summon

If you liked Nioh, I am happy to say that Wo Long shares a lot of DNA.  It applies that soulslike / masocore gameplay to a Dynasty Warriors or Three Kingdoms setting. Fans of those series will see a lot of familiar names and faces, such as Zhou Yun.

The demo is live until September 25th, and Koei Tecmo is asking players to submit clips of their most intense battles from the demo to Twitter for a chance to win a T-shirt.

I did as much as possible in the demo over the few hours I played it. Nioh fans will quickly recognize a similar setup for equipment or gear and how you control your character. Some new features include a morale system that effectively replaces stamina. You now have the ability to deflect attacks to some super satisfying results.

The demo for Wo Long consists of character creation, a tutorial stage, and one full stage complete with a boss fight! The character creator is very flexible and allows for one of the best-looking player characters I’ve seen in a soulslike.

The demo runs a little bit rough but is incredibly fun. If you are a fan of the genre, definitely give this one a try.
