Virus on Orbis 1, the first of the four-book Softwire series, is about a group of kids orphaned in outer space and sold to aliens as slaves. When they arrive on the Rings of Orbis, they learn that one of the children, JT, is a Softwire – a leap in evolution that allows the child to enter any computer with just his mind. The Rings of Orbis, where the children are sent to work, consist of four planet-like rings floating around a wormhole. A single computer controls the entire system. The fact that this kid can get in their precious computer at will drives the aliens mad. The Citizens of the Rings do everything they can to capture and even kill the boy…and his sister.
